Meet The Team!

Heather Reckner, Owner, ProDoula Pre-CD Labor and Postpartum, ProDoula Pre-CPPS

Born and raised on the sunny gulf coast of Florida, Heather has been drawn to birth, mothers, and babies for as long as she can remember. As a teen she worked as a nanny in high demand, and planned to become a midwife. She learned about the role of a Doula as a senior in high-school, and after being given the opportunity to attend a couple of births, she felt confident in her decision to pursue this career path. She started her studies with DONA immediately following graduation. Later after marrying and giving birth to her first child, Heather decided to shift her focus to growing her family for a few years. The questions that she had about her own birthing process drove her to learn more and understand deeper the many aspects surrounding maternal health and early childhood development. Heather and her family moved to Carrollton, GA. in the fall of 2011 and in 2014 Heather was ready to jump back into Doula work with a renewed passion. She continued her education through ProDoula and shortly after founded West Georgia Doula. Heather is passionate about helping women realize their strengths and believes that the best gift she can give a new mom is respect, unconditional support, and an unbiased listening ear. Heather lives out in the country with her husband Bryce and their four young children. In her free time she enjoys shopping, reading, cooking and sipping good coffee. She is also active in her church and volunteers as co-leader of the Breastfeeding Support Group for West Georgia and the Babywearers of West Georgia group.

Chelsea Church, Affililate Doula, ProDoula Pre-CD Labor, ProDoula Pre-CPPS

Carrollton has been home to Chelsea Church as far back as she can remember. A graduate of Central High School, Chelsea went on to the University of West Georgia where she earned her Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Marketing. After becoming pregnant with her first child, Chelsea threw herself into researching the process of pregnancy and birth. A passion was born. With five years of experience in Home Healthcare, transitioning to the role of a Doula came very naturally. Chelsea has trained with both CAPPA and ProDoula, and is excited about being a member of the West Georgia Doula team. She is a self-proclaimed proponent of Servant Leadership and believes in the innate strength of women. “If those surrounding laboring women could focus solely on serving her, on offering unbiased support for her choices, and on watching her express autonomy and power, they would witness true leadership: her own.” Chelsea lives in downtown Carrollton with her husband Kyle, her son Liam, and their wild critters Swazee and Snickers. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, writing, and watching reruns of Castle while sneaking hot chocolate.

Heather Walker, Affiliate Doula, ProDoula Pre-CD Labor

Born in Savannah but raised in Macon, Heather has always loved hospitals and helping others in their time of need.  She declared nursing as her major in college but quickly found out that biology was not her forte.  Heather graduated in 2009 from the University of West Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Women’s studies.  Heather has known for many years that she wanted to help women in some shape or form.  She interned with the Carroll Rape Crisis Center while in college and continued to volunteer with them until she married her husband, Kevin, and moved to Newnan.  It wasn’t until Heather had her first baby, Lorelai, in 2012 that she realized she loved the whole birthing process.  When her second baby, Sawyer, was born in 2014, Heather knew she needed to find a way to help other pregnant, laboring, and postpartum mom’s. She was introduced to ProDoula and began her training to become a labor doula.  Heather desires to give every client her best emotional and physical support as they enter into this exciting and life changing chapter of their lives.
